BUILD – Registration Steps

Build | Scottish Rite | The Written Word

To participate in BUILD: A K-1 Early Intervention Training, you will need to follow these steps.

Step 1: Request an Account or Update an Existing Account

If you do not have an account with Scottish Rite for Children (SRC), you must request an account. Click the button below to request an account. If you already have an account, click “Update Existing Account” to select the training you would like to receive, if it is not already in your ordering portal.

    • After completing the request form, your account number will be sent within three business days via the email you provided. A username and password will be sent to you from adminupress@qg.com. You can then log in and complete your order.
    • If you plan to purchase the curriculum with a school district purchase order, the account you request should be in the same name as the purchase order. The same applies if using a school credit card. Attach a tax-exempt form with the purchase order.
    • If you plan to order the curriculum with your personal credit card, the new account should be in the same name as the credit card and the credit card billing address.
    • If the correct information is not received, dyslexia.curriculumtsrh.org will email you to request the missing information. If you do not respond, your account may be denied.

Step 2: Order the Materials

To complete your order, select the following items: BUILD Kit – Part 1 and BUILD Kit – Part 2, single download license or BUILD multi-license for use by several teachers.  PLEASE NOTE: BUILD Kit 1 & Part 2 must be purchased for each person being trained.

Step 3: Understanding SMART Notebook for Interactive Files

The SMART Notebook is software intended for use with an interactive display on the SMART Board. The software must be purchased to utilize the BUILD interactive files.

Step 4: Purchase Additional Materials

The following materials are necessary for implementing the BUILD intervention. You can purchase them from the links provided.

    • Aunt Isabel Tells a Good One by Kate Duke is a paperback picture book; click here to buy it.

    • No-Glamour® Language Cards by Carolyn LoGiudice: click here to buy it.
    • Upper-case plastic 3-dimensional blue letters. Item #101: click here to buy it.

Step 5: Purchase Optional Benchmark Assessment Booklet

Utilize the Benchmark Assessments as a progress monitoring tool in conjunction with BUILD: A K-1 Early Reading Intervention, specifically designed for early literacy development. By administering these assessments, you’ll gain valuable insights to inform your next steps and tailor instruction for students who require additional support in acquiring foundational literacy skills, whether during or after the intervention. It can also be used as a pretest before the intervention begins.

Please note that the Benchmark Assessments are not part of the research-based curriculum BUILD: A K-1 Early Reading Intervention developed at Scottish Rite for Children in Dallas, TX. Once payment has been received, the benchmark assessment will be mailed to your address.

Step 6: Accessing the downloadable Teacher’s Guides and Student Books

Once your order is approved, you will receive a confirmation email. You will then need to log back into the site where your account is and select “my downloads” from the dropdown menu under your username at the top of the page. From there, you will see what downloads are available.

Step 7 – Preparation for the Training:

Three days before the training session, an invitation will be sent out via Zoom. Every registrant MUST log in to the training using the email address that was used to register, even if attending as part of a larger registered group. Participants are required to check in to the Zoom meeting and wait to be admitted, so that attendance can be confirmed before the training begins.

With your invitation, you will receive an agenda and a supplemental training guide. Please print these out and have them available for use during the training. Additionally, make sure to download and print each BUILD Teacher’s Guide for your participation. There is no need to download or print the student books.
